more about how bees use water to keep cool, see Bearding .)

Place a shallow water dish within a foot of the beehive and a couple of others throughout your property. You can put some rocks or marbles around the edges of your feeders and waterers, so the bees have a place to land. (If the water is too deep, your bees will drown.) Refill their water dishes daily with fresh water, just as you would do with any pet or livestock.

POOL PARTY

Did I mention bees love pools? Bees love pools more than a group of kids on a hot summer day. Other than completely enclosing your pool, you need to get used to the idea of sharing it with your bees. We used to keep a pool float tied to one corner of our pool, and our bees would use the rope to climb down to the water, hang out on the float, and just chill in the pool. Even if you don’t want to have your own bee float, I suggest tying small ropes on the sides of the pool so the bees can crawl out. They aren’t the best swimmers and will drown without a way out.
